A tough choice. I’ve never really had a song that I said was “My song.”
Day 29: Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree / Tony Orlando & Dawn
I went with choices, not so much of songs I loved, but that the memory seems strong in my childhood.
Day 28: Hold On / Alabama Shakes (Brittany Howard)
They've only done two albums in the last 8 years and Brittany seems to be doing some solo work. I really hope to hear more from the Alabama Shakes.
Day 27: I Dreamed a Dream / as performed by Anne Hathaway in the movie Les Miserables
In my opinion, this is the perfect expression of a song. If you've never seen this scene, or it's been a while, do yourself a favor. Watch this video:
Day 26: I've Never Been in Love Before / Chet Baker
Day 25: Suspicious Minds / Elvis Presley
Day 24: Hotel Yorba / The White Stripes
Day 23: The General / Dispatch
Day 22: Colonel Bogey / composer F.J. Ricketts
When you're having trouble moving forward with anything, just start whistling.
