Best known for “Pomp and Circumstance” played at almost every graduation ceremony in America, Edward Elgar was a fantastic English composer. I may have grown sick of “Pomp and Circumstance” over the years, but his other works are well worth a listen. |
White Morning / Fumio Miyashita
My album recommendation for you today is background for meditation, yoga, or just to remind you what it's like to go to a spa.
Do you have an album recommendation for me?
Voz D' Amor / Cesária Evora
This album was recommended to me. I love the variety of her music: one minute a heartbreaker, the next a lounging on the beach feel. Check out some music from the island of Cape Verde
The Quintet: Jazz At Massey Hall
Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell, Max Roach, and Charles Mingus... that is "The Quintet: Jazz at Massey Hall." Imagine having tickets to that concert!
Day 30: Behind Blue Eyes / The Who
A tough choice. I’ve never really had a song that I said was “My song.”
Day 29: Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree / Tony Orlando & Dawn
I went with choices, not so much of songs I loved, but that the memory seems strong in my childhood.
Day 28: Hold On / Alabama Shakes (Brittany Howard)
They've only done two albums in the last 8 years and Brittany seems to be doing some solo work. I really hope to hear more from the Alabama Shakes.
Day 27: I Dreamed a Dream / as performed by Anne Hathaway in the movie Les Miserables
In my opinion, this is the perfect expression of a song. If you've never seen this scene, or it's been a while, do yourself a favor. Watch this video:
